Charyn National Park Kazakhstan
Charyn Canyon is 200 km (124 miles) to the east from Almaty not far from the border with China and is included into the territory of the Charyn National Park.
It is a natural monument which formed from sedimentary rocks whose age is about 12 million years. The height of the canyon vertical mountains reaches 150-200 m (500-650 ft) which is not small. The length of the canyon is about 5 km long (3 miles).
Charyn Canyon is often called a younger brother of Grand Canyon of the USA. Only a million years ago it got the look it has now.
